Techniques matched to your body

Tumescent liposuction

This is the go-to technique for reshaping the male body. Your surgeon first injects a specific solution into the areas to be treated, before suction. This solution makes the fat easier to remove, reduces bleeding and makes recovery more comfortable. When there are larger volumes to correct, on the abdomen or the flanks for example, it is often the most suitable approach.

The VASER technique: precision through ultrasound

VASER liposuction is a real step forward for male liposuction. The technology sends out selective ultrasound waves that break up the fat cells before they are suctioned, while sparing the vessels, nerves and surrounding tissue. The result: finer contouring, less pain and a quicker recovery.

The clinical data points the same way. A retrospective study of 175 patients (73 of them men) treated with VASER between 2022 and 2024 showed a clear improvement in contours across every area treated, with high satisfaction. Across 960 patients followed between 2009 and 2024, the average satisfaction score reached 9.4 out of 10, with minor complications limited to 1.7%.

Realistic expectations and skin that keeps good elasticity count for a lot in the quality of the result.

Contraindications

The procedure is not advised in cases of obesity, uncontrolled diabetes, clotting disorders, severe cardiovascular disease or active infection. How the procedure works

Preparation

A full pre-op work-up is done on site, in Istanbul: blood tests, an electrocardiogram and an anaesthetic consultation. Your surgeon marks the areas to treat precisely and settles the surgical plan with you. Aspirin and anti-inflammatories should be stopped 10 days before, with a 6-hour fast before theatre.

Anaesthesia

General anaesthesia is preferred when several areas are involved or the volume to be suctioned is large. For a single area, such as the double chin or a small part of the abdomen, local anaesthesia with sedation may be enough: you stay conscious, but completely relaxed.

The surgical steps

The surgeon makes small incisions of 3 to 5 mm, tucked into the natural folds of the skin so the scars stay almost invisible. The tumescent solution is injected, then the fat cells are broken up (by ultrasound with VASER) and suctioned out using fine cannulas. Every movement is measured, to sculpt the contours without hollowing them. Allow 1 to 3 hours on average, depending on the number of areas.

The end of the procedure

The incisions are closed with adhesive dressings or fine sutures, and a compression garment is fitted straight away to support the tissue. One night in hospital under supervision is planned in our clinic, for your comfort and safety.

Your recovery and results

For the first few days in Istanbul, our team checks on you every day. The first shower is usually allowed after 24 to 48 hours. Bruising and swelling are normal and fade over 2 to 3 weeks, while our doctors adjust your painkillers to how you feel.

The compression garment is worn around the clock for 4 to 6 weeks. It helps the skin retract, limits swelling and has a direct bearing on the quality of the final result. From the second week, lymphatic massage helps speed up drainage and refine the contours.

As for daily life: light activity resumes after 5 to 7 days, sport and hard effort after four to six weeks. The first results show from the third week, but the final look settles at around 3 to 6 months, once the swelling has fully gone down.

Risks and complications

Carried out in the right conditions, liposuction has a reassuring safety profile. The most common after-effects are minor surface irregularities (5 to 10% of cases), haematomas (1 to 2%) and infections (under 1%). Serious complications, such as a blood clot or a pulmonary embolism, are exceptional. In a review of 2324 patients and 7141 procedures in cosmetic medical tourism, the complication rate comes out at just 2.2% per procedure, a level comparable to the best American clinics.
