Beard transplant
Alopecia barbae, or beard alopecia areata, causes patches of facial hair loss through an immune reaction involving the follicles. The skin usually remains smooth, and hair can regrow either spontaneously or with treatment. Its course varies, however, and episodes can recur: establishing why the hair has been lost is the first step towards appropriate care.
A recently developing gap needs assessment before you consider a beard transplant in Turkey. Active autoimmune disease, infection and naturally sparse facial hair require different approaches. At Body Expert, any restoration proposal needs to take that diagnosis and the limitations of surgery into account.
A patchy beard usually comes down to two things nobody chooses: the number of follicles laid down in the skin of the face before birth, and the way those follicles respond to androgens from puberty onwards. It can also change over the years, because beard density keeps progressing long after puberty (Dua et al., 2021). Less often, bare areas point to a skin or hair condition, a hair-pulling habit or a genuine hormone deficiency, all of which call for a doctor.
The right option depends on that cause. Time and a well-chosen trim improve the look of a beard that is still maturing, minoxidil can strengthen hairs that are already there but is used off-label on the face, and derma rolling still lacks studies on the beard itself. Where an area has never grown hair and the picture is stable, only a transplant can place new follicles there.
At Body Expert, a beard transplant in Turkey is discussed at the end of that reasoning. Before any plan is made, the questions are whether your beard can still change and whether a medical cause needs treating first, and then what surgery would genuinely alter on your face.
A beard transplant follows a growth timeline whose stages last roughly the same length of time in most patients. The face is red and swollen for a few days, the implant sites crust over with fine scabs, and then the implanted hairs fall out: according to Yaseen et al. (2021), this shedding begins one to two weeks after surgery. The follicles nevertheless remain in the skin. New hairs emerge towards the end of the third or fourth month, and density keeps improving until the final assessment at around one year (Dua et al., 2021; Yaseen et al., 2021).
This stage often causes worry, because the implanted hairs give the beard its new shape as soon as surgery is over, and for a few months the beard then resembles its pre-surgery state. It is nevertheless part of the expected course and says nothing about graft survival, which can only be judged once regrowth is under way.
After a beard transplant in Turkey, most of this timeline unfolds once you are back home, and each stage calls for specific steps: keeping the grafted area moist at first, waiting for your team’s go-ahead before shaving, photographing the beard every month and reporting spreading redness or a high temperature without delay.
